Twilight to Midnight in St. George is the name given to the New Year’s Eve celebration that is held in the city every single year. The tradition basically started in 1999, when millions of people were afraid of the Y2K bug. That was when a celebration was held without planning. Around 20,000 people simply started converging along the Historic Main Street and the First Night yearly event was born. That was the name that was given to the celebration for years.
First Night St. George changed its name to Twilight to Midnight in St. George but even during the time it had the original name, it was an opportunity for all people to have fun. Many different local talents got a chance to perform for the city in many different venues located in the downtown region. There were outdoor and indoor venues that basically brought together different arts and people.
As with any event of its kind, Twilight to Midnight in St. George also offers a really stunning fireworks display right on top of Red Hill, when Midnight strikes. This is basically the culmination of a huge celebration that sees people having a lot of fun and partying.
First Night was the name that was originally used for the event but this changed in 2011. That was when the new name became Twilight to Midnight in St. George. The decision was made because many different other similar events around the country also changed their names so it was time for St. George to do the same.
Every single year Twilight to Midnight in St. George is held in the last day of the year, in the Town Square, Dixie Sunbowl and the Pioneer Center for the Arts. There are many different performances that everyone can expect to be grand and tailored for people of all ages. In 2011 there was even a Rock Band game competition, a magician for the little ones and tremendous bands that played on the main stage. There is no reason to believe that the next event will not be even more special.
