Below we’ve compiled some of the top events going on in southern Utah this weekend, and there are some good ones, and plenty of variety. From park movies, to board game competitions, to mountain biking, and amateur MMA, its all going down this weekend.

And if you’re looking to add a fantastic place to eat while you’re visiting St George then look no further than one of our favorite spots, Coyote Charo. Their carne asada burrito is the absolute best in all of southern Utah, and their asada fries will change your life. They’re located on Bluff street as well as in the shopping center near Costco.

Ivins Movie in the Park

If you would like to watch a movie in the park with a backdrop of those stunning red mountain rocks in the distance, then head out to Ivins Friday night. They play them at the baseball field and it begins at around 8:30 pm. They’re watching the Jungle Book this Friday, and then they end the season out with Guardians of the Galaxy.

STG Con

There’s a unique event going on in St George this weekend called STG Con, and it’s a board game convention. It’s located at the Red Lion Hotel (which is formerly the Lexington Hotel) at 850 S Bluff Street. It costs $25 to enter, or if you want an all weekend pass it costs you $40, and goes from August 21st – 23rd.

Come play games like Life, Monopoly, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Sorry and so many more. But it isn’t just the old games they play but the new ones as well like Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Small World. It doesn’t matter what your board game love is, we’re sure you can find people here to play with.

Little Hollywood Half Marathon in Kanab

The Little Hollywood Half Marathon in Kanab is a themed half that is sure to delight everyone who runs it. On Saturday August 22nd at 6 am the race begins, after which you’ll run by some of the old Hollywood sets, before ending the race at the Old Hollywood Museum. So if it’s a little running you’re after then head a little east to Kanab

Brian Head Enduro

If it’s mountain air and downhill mountain biking that you seek then head up to Brian Head this Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm. There will be some professional riders there, and the object of the race is to score the fastest downhill time for each stage. You’ll get taken to the top of the mountain via the ski lifts, and then you’ll get to make your way down each stage as you head downhill as fast as you can.

Brian Head is fantastic this time of year, it’s a little cooler and the mountain setting will certainly be a treat.

Mayhem in Mesquite

It’s their fifth annual mixed martial arts Mayhem in Mesquite tournament this weekend just a little south of St George down in Mesquite. This event will feature some of the best amateur fighters in the West, some of which will someday compete in much larger competitions. The event is at the CasaBlanca, and on top of the fighting they have live music and dancing at the 21 and older after party on Saturday night.
