Wild West Days in Lead

This is the second annual event held in Leads Utah celebrating their heritage. It’s going on this Friday and Saturday, and features some fantastic live entertainment, some good old fashioned square and line dancing, a pony express race, and some black powder shooting demonstrations. Leads is steep in history as an old mining town, and this event will give you chance to taste of bit of it, with historic re-enactments, Silver Reef Museum tours, and even a fiddling contest. So there’s just a lot going on in Leads this weekend, it begins Friday at 4 pm in the town park located right behind the Town Hall on main street. Come hungry because there will be food vendors present as well.

So if you’re looking for a little history and a small town festival, then Leads Utah is your best bet this weekend.

DocUtah – International Documentary Film Festival

DocUtah is one of the premier documentary film festivals in Utah. There are 76 films this year from 29 countries. Documentary films offer a tremendous look into different cultures, and budding film makers. This festival goes is going on now, and goes until Sunday the 12th. Tickets for the day are just $7, so there’s no excuse for not going out to see some fantastic films from all over the world.

Chris Procter Concert

One of the best guitarists in the US is coming to little old southern Utah. Chris Proctor is the US National Fingerstyle Champion Steel String Guitarist, and he’ll be in Springdale tonight (Friday the 11th), and then in St George at the DiFiore Center on main street on Saturday. The cost is $10 per-person for the general admission.

His style of music has echoes of old-time Appalachian, with elements of jazz, Celtic folk, all mixed in with a dash of the blues. So if it’s some guitar soloist music you’re looking for then this week is the week to be in St George.
