Downtown Farmers Market – The Best Way to Get Involved in the Community

The Downtown Farmers Market that is situated within the Ancestor Square in St. George, Utah is a non-profit community project that was established for the purpose of promoting the historic section of the downtown area. It also aims to promote organic gardening of some homemade crafts and goods.

The market is open daily, starting on May 11 and will be available until the 26th of October. It will be open from 8 AM in the morning until 12 noon on Saturdays, rain or shine.

Ancestor Square

The vendor booths of the farmers market are located on the perimeter of the Courtyard within the Ancestor Square. With this, visitors and customers will be able to enjoy strolling around the lawn in the morning while listening to some live music performing in the nearby center stage.

The Ancestor Square is situated in the commercial center of St. George, within the intersection of St. George Boulevard and the Main Street. There are six other historical buildings that are right beside the Ancestor Square, and several new buildings are on the way.

The buildings feature a theme that enlivens the historical senses of the old city center. Aside from the farmer’s market, the square also hosts several restaurants, shops and art galleries, making it the best place for St. George residents and even tourists to visit.

Sixth Season

This will be the sixth season of the Downtown Farmers Market and the managers as well as the volunteers are hoping to expand it and make it even bigger in the future. They want the market to become a bigger part of the community of St. George and promote an ever developing organic gardening association not only in the city but in the entire Southern Utah as well.

They are a supporter of the “Local First” which is a non-profit program of the state that aims to support local products as well as local businesses. The famers market is indeed a great way to get involved in the local community. By visiting the market, you are able to contribute to the artists, craftsmen, bakers, as well as local gardeners.
