With summer vacation just around the corner, Yahoo published an article on the “10 places every kid should see“. The list includes locations that are both fun and educational. While we’re a bit disappointed that Utah vacation spots didn’t make the list, we were excited that Grand Canyon National Park was highlighted.
Why?
Well, we actually get quite a few people that stay with us that are coming to or from the Grand Canyon. A lot of families with school age kids like to pick a region of the U.S., and hit all the National Parks and other areas of interest during a week or longer summer vacation.
St. George, Utah is one of the bigger cities that is relatively close to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Plus, it’s “on the way” if you will – meaning you can stop at the Grand Canyon, make a quick pit stop at Lake Powell (or not), and then swing over to St. George and stay with us for a couple of nights while visiting Snow Canyon, doing some dessert hiking, golfing, playing tennis, and enjoying the many pools in the Green Valley Las Palmas complex. Then head over to Zion National Park and from there hit Canyonlands via Scenic Route 12. Perfect.
So if you have an educational summer vacation planned that includes the Grand Canyon and Utah spots of interest, book lodging in St. George now with St. George Vacation Rentals. We’re a family friendly location that is perfect for kids, and a lot more fun than a cramped hotel room.
While you’re at the Grand Canyon, check out the new observation deck sky walk, which is a U-shaped, glass-bottom observation deck that lays 70 feet over the Grand Canyon West Rim at 4,000 feet above the Colorado River. Your kids won’t forget that view (and neither will you).
