As many of you may know, half of this vacation rental business is located on the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii at Turtle Bay. In Hawaii one of the best local dishes you can get is called poke (pronounced po-kay). It’s a dish made with really fresh Ahi tuna.

I thought that I would only ever have great poke at the Kahuku Superette and for that I would need to make continuous trips back to the north shore. NEVER did I think that I would be able to get a poke bowl in St. George, UT that actually rivals the poke bowl in Kahuku.

Today I stand amazed because we just got back from dinner at the best new (new-ish, it opened a year ago) restaurant in St. George. It’s called Hawaiian Poke Bowl and the owner herself is from Hawaii. It is so wonderful. We went there on a recommendation from our friend Shaun “The Threat” Fuhriman and im so glad we did! Every time I eat a bowl of poke it just takes me back to Waimea Bay sitting on the beach, jumping off the rock, and watching the local kine surf. Paradise!

If you haven’t tried poke before I urge you to try it here, you will not regret it. It is now one of my top places to eat in St. George.  They will let you sample the different varieties until you find the flavor that suits you whether it is soy sauce and ginger or spicy and sweet. You pick the kind you want and an employee lovingly layers shredded cabbage over warm rice and then spoons the fresh ahi right on top. Seriously it is so delicious.
So, if you live in St. George or you are just visiting with us at St. George Vacation Rentals, go try something new and take your fam or a hot date to Hawaiian Poke Bowl. It is located at 175 w 900 s just off of the bluff street exit. They are open from 11-6 Tuesday-Saturday.
