Don’t let the name scare you!

A couple weeks back we went down to St. George for a couple days to see the fam and do some hiking on our way to Mexico. Before our LONG drive I thought some extra walking would be a great idea. Since we’ve already done most of the ones in Snow Canyon State Park I wanted to try somewhere new. I finally settled on a hike in the canyons by Kayenta. Kayenta is a housing development just outside of St.George and you get to it driving through Santa Clara. **I will put some detailed driving directions on how to get to the trail head at the end of this post cause it is a bit tricky.**

The hike is through a dry creek wash and it is about 4 1/2 miles round trip and it’s kid friendly! It isn’t too difficult and the abundance of large rocks to scramble around would keep any child entertained. Just remember to bring water! There is very little shade and in the St. George summers it can get really hot, so be prepared if you are planning this hike, or any hike, during the summer months.

I hope you like this hike as much as I did!

Directions:

From St. George, travel north on Bluff Street. Turn left on Sunset Blvd. and continue as the Blvd. turns into Santa Clara Drive and then Old Highway 91. Turn right into Kayenta on the Kayenta Parkway. Turn right on Evening Star Drive. Turn left on Wintook Drive. Turn right on Taviawk Drive. Shortly after turning on Taviawk Drive is a small pull to the right for parking.
