It’s Sunday, you’re LDS, you’re on vacation (staying with us at St. George Vacation Rentals of course), and you’re wondering where you can go to church. Why not try something different?

Sure, you could go to the local Green Valley ward. Yawn. How about going to church in a historic building after a scenic drive? In fact, attend a service in the oldest Mormon church meetinghouse that is still in continuous use.

The historic Pine Valley LDS Chapel is located only 40 minutes from St. George in the Pine Valley mountains. It’s definitely worth the drive. In 1868 Ebenezer Bryce, a shipbuilder, designed this chapel that worshipers still use today. The Pine Valley Church is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day each year. The homes in Pine Valley are mainly second homes used to beat the St. George summer heat.

Did you know: In 1866 and 1867 a lot of tree logs were harvested from Pine Valley Mountain. This wood was used by the LDS church to build the Pine Valley Chapel and the original organ pipes for the Salt Lake Tabernacle.

The address and phone number are below. You may want to call ahead of time to figure out what time services are. I’d feel bad if I posted a time and it changes.  Yep, you’re kickin’ it pioneer style now.
