It still amazes us how every weekend there are things planned and going on that you don’t want to miss in St George, and this weekend is certainly no exception. There’s so much going on that our little post barely scratches the surface, but it at least gives you a head start to it.

First Friday George Street Fest

The George Street Fest is quickly becoming one of the better events that St George has to offer. What can be better than when they close down a whole street, bring in the food trucks, have live music, and so much more? It really is such a fun atmosphere. The Fridays street fest offers three different sets of live music.

The live music includes The Wiskey Tooth Revival, a popular local country-rock band that will be headlining the festivities at 8 pm. And the opener is former residents Sala and Edgar, they go on at 7 pm. Best of all it’s all free (except for the vendors and food of course). Then finally at Ancestor Square there will be southern Utah’s own Alice “Honey Bea” Ericksen. She is a powerhouse in the rhythm and blues vocal range.

Make certain you come hungry as there will be some of southern Utah’s favorites there to feed you, from Benja’s to Pizza Factory, to Waffle Luv and more.

Improv Dixie

We love improv, it’s funny, it’s unscripted, it’s everything we want it to be, and now they’re bringing it back to Jazzy Java’s on Saturday night. For real who doesn’t like “Who’s Line is it Anyways?”, everyone does. So head over to Jazzy Java’s Saturday night at 7 pm for a free show. Yes that’s not a misprint, the show is free! It’s a guarantee good laugh, and for that cost you just can’t beat it.

Free Fishing

It’s the annual fishing derby this Saturday from 8 am – 2 pm, where kids 12 and under get to fish for free. The derby’s hosted at the Tawa Ponds at 2200 West Snow Canyon Parkway. Bait and fishing poles will even be provided for kids who don’t own their own poles (although it’s highly encouraged to bring your own coolers to store the fish in once they are caught).

This is just a fun event for everyone involved, so if you’re looking to instill some love for fishing in your kids then tomorrow is the perfect thing for you.
