St George is a fantastic place to come, stay, and play in. But what if you’re headed here on one of our hotter weekends, when its going to be over a hundred degrees? Well rest assured there are options, you just have to decide what you want to do and be a little flexible.

One of our favorite parts of southern Utah is the fact that there are lakes and reservoirs all over. From big ones to small one, despite being a desert, we still have lots of oasis’s to offer.

In the heat one of the more popular spots is Kolob Reservoir just up from town Virgin. It’s a mountain lake that offers some supreme beauty, and since it’s has some higher elevation, its cooler as well! So take up your SUP’s, your fishing boats and your cameras as this is a spot you won’t be disappointed in visiting. There’s even a little island you can paddle out to, which offers a unique aspect of a Utah lake.

The upper east side of Zion offers some respite from the scorching heat. There are some great little hikes up on that side that often get overlooked in comparison to the Narrows and the Subway, but truly the east side is much cooler and yet still offers some of those stunning views of Zion Canyons sheer cliff walls.

If it’s family fun you’re looking for then Fiesta Fun in St George has a brand new building with plenty of air conditioning to go around. They have new state of the art bowling alley, a fantastic laser tag arena, arcades (with prizes), and a food area. You will have a fantastic time with your kids playing around at Fiesta Fun.

And last but not least to cool down from the heat check out Menchies on the boulevard. Their self serve, build-your-own style of frozen yogurt is one of the hot local spots.

So there you have it, those are some things you can do to escape the heat when visiting St George when it’s a little bit hot out.
